Fashionable Friday : Netting a Cat in the Hat
{Fashion illustration : In the Pink with Netted Hat and Cat © Shell-Sherree} |
Today's fashion illustration indulges my current state of Jean Shrimpton smittendom. Here's the original inspiration ~ and if you ask me, there was more than a dash of Cat in the Hat behind that.
So, let's all have hat hair together this weekend. It's been pretty breezy here this afternoon, so we might need luxury-length hat pins, but old school glamour does not come without sacrifice. And we're at risk of getting something caught if we bat our false eyelashes too heavily under that netting, but I'm willing to take one for the team if you are. And on that note ...
Happy Fashionable Friday to you !
NET SOMETHING PRETTY at my PETITE BOUTIQUE OF ART PRINTS
That fabulous, Ascot-worthy chapeau would, I fear, look completely ridiculous on me. However, it would make a stylish if destructible kitty bed for my "grandcat."
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Alexa, but we'll all have to look ridiculous together ... and as a reward, you can take yours home for your grandcat's pleasure. :)
DeleteLove the way you've illustrated the gloves and the bodice of the gown. Great wimsy at work here. Don't let that cat near the netting.
ReplyDeleteThanks, PA ! But I think resistance will be futile.
DeleteI so like how your characters smirk without being snotty. And not to sound snotty, but I think I could carry off this glamorous hat. Of course, I'd need an entirely new wardrobe from the neck down.
ReplyDeleteYou could never sound snotty, Hiker. I'll bet you'd look smashing. Wind yourself up in a satin sheet and you're good to go.
DeleteI love that hat! Actually I love hats, period. Don’t have much occasion to wear one. I was in Paris before my daughter finished medical school and bought a turquoise hat – looked much like the hat you showed. I had to be careful in the plane going back to Atlanta, then to find an outfit to look good with it. Do you know I was the only one wearing a hat at the graduation? But it was a nice hat. I am also very partial to little cats. Thanks for coming to my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Your turquoise hat sounds lovely, Vagabonde ! I'm glad you wore it to the graduation ~ I'll bet others secretly wished they had thought to do so themselves.
DeleteYou do "sheer elegance" so well....
ReplyDeleteAnd I can tell that Kitty is patiently waiting for when she can do a few roll-arounds -- either on the dress or the hat brim.
Thank you, Ms M ~ and you read kitties with keen aptitude, so I'm guessing you're right.
DeleteSmittendom! You've given me a new word. I'm grateful enough to suffer hat hair for two weekends in exchange.
ReplyDeleteI'm chuffed, Petrea. Perhaps it could be a kingdom?!
DeleteSurely it could, and we know who the king would be.
DeleteThat we do, Petrea.
