Today's Paris fashion illustration is inspired by this image from the Le Meurice hotel to mark Paris fashion week.
Show me a trench coat and I see a detective ~ or a secret agent. I inevitably google up kickboxing and martial arts classes when I'm home after a night wearing one. Then the espresso wears off and I do yoga instead. Maybe I can catch a potential adversary off guard with a sudden Lord of the Dance pose in the meantime.
Agent Violet, on the other hand, has mastered the art of disarming with a glance instead. I like her style. She has some openings for apprentices ~ do we have any takers? And on that note ...
Happy Paris daydreams to you !

You may have convinced me! I've been eyeing a violet trench coat in a catalog. Hmm....do I really need it?
ReplyDeleteMichelle in Seattle (or near enough)
(and thanks to my new computer I can actually comment on your blog!)
Hooray for the new computer, Michelle !! As for the violet trench coat ~ need, perhaps not, but it would accompany the streets of Venice very beautifully ... :)
DeleteAh, after going and looking at the trench coat again and even with the offered discount I decided that the $100 was better spent elsewhere. I already have more coats than I can move over the ocean so...I'll just have to decide what goes with me and what doesn't. Although the pale violet trench is lovely, but when I think about it the double breasted style doesn't really suit my more than ample figure.
DeleteAnd I thought something was missing till today's post about kitty pulling a Garbo.
Many coats do not make light work, dear Michelle ... a wise decision. :)
DeletePS: Re kitty, in this particular case, kitty would have blown Agent Violet's cover ~ and room service had just delivered fresh sardines on a silver tray ... ;)
This takes me waaaay back to Paris in the Sixties! I "inherited" a trench that had belonged to Veruschka. She's about a foot taller than I am, so what was a normal length on her was a maxi on me (and probably looked a bit ridiculous)—but it was designer and it was gorgeous, and it made me feel like a supermodel too. So thanks for the memories, ma chère!
ReplyDeleteYou and 'ridiculous' do not go together, dear Alexa ~ I'll bet you made a maxi-trench look a bit of all right. :) I'm glad to bring back happy memories, ma chère ...
DeleteMy favorite coat story? I think the style was swing with bell sleeves. It was wool plaid (nothing garish) with a huge collar of fur that ran down the front. Probably from the 60's. Gorgeous -- given to me by a woman who owned a department store. Anyhow, all was well until my jerk of a roommate borrowed it (without asking) and got pulled over. Coke was discovered in her possession, car impounded and with my coat in the trunk. Never saw it again. But I do love trains!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the coat made it into evidence, PA !! I think I'd have cried. Swing jackets are gorgeous!!
DeleteWhen I was a kid, I always wanted a "secret agent coat". And one like Agent Violet's would have been perfect!
ReplyDeleteAnd Agent Violet is happy for you to wear it any time you fancy it, Ms M !
