Fashionable Friday: Falling for Wenda and the Silver Ghost
{Falling for Wenda and the Silver Ghost : ink pen and watercolour illustration by © Shell-Sherree} |
Today's illustration inspiration source is Norman Parkinson, English portrait and fashion photographer {and successor to Cecil Beaton as photographer to the royals}. For me, though, this one's dedicated to his gorgeously glamorous muse Wenda {who makes me want to take copper hair for a twirl again! Join me?} Wenda over the Rolls {1951} features Wenda in a divine Molyneux satin evening gown and a 1907 Silver Ghost Rolls Royce.
Ours is in perfect working order. Where are we off to tonight? The theatre? A picnic under the stars? A stroll along the boulevard? One thing's for sure ~ we have champagne and salted caramel macarons on board. And on that note ...
Happy Fashionable Friday to you !

I'm ready to try the red but hubby and daughter don't agree. sigh
ReplyDeleteOh, darn, Debs ~ keep working on them. ;)
DeleteOh, sounds like a perfect weekend! I'm ready for a spin in the wonderful old Rolls!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful and elegant weekend to you and Ella!
Thank you, Ms M ~ I think I hear a gramophone playing ... happy weekend to you and Macie !
DeleteShe's in love with the car -- but I'm in love with her dress (and the contents of your perfect pique-nique panier!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a beauty, Alexa ~ timeless glamour ! Bon weekend, ma chère. x0
DeleteI did the copper for a while and enjoyed it. I even have pictures. But it's been some time now, and I'm afraid if I tried again I'd look like someone who's just a tad too old and trying too hard!
ReplyDeleteBut the dress? Oh, I love that dress! You have exquisite taste, Shell.
Thank you, dear Petrea ~ I'm somewhat smitten with that gown. It hasn't materialised in my wardrobe yet, but in time .. As for your hair, I wouldn't mess with perfection, Petrea. Yours suits you beautifully ~ nothing to do with age, either !!
DeleteI've been red, copper, black , blonde, brown, blueing (for laundry), purple and pink. Currently I'm gray with a box of Burgundy revlon in the wings. But before I use it, I'm thinking about blue. A hue of blue. Something that tints rather then covers. I don't see it as trying to hard. I see it as play.
ReplyDelete[WARNING SHOP TALK] Shell have you tried those brush pens where you fill the body with watercolor? Mr V bought me three for Christmas and I haven't figured out just how I want to use them - yet - but for what you do, I think they'd be perfect.
Sounds very playful to me, PA ~ I feel positively tame in considering going heavier on the copper highlights. :) [WARNING: MORE SHOP TALK] I haven't tried them but next time I'm ordering supplies, I'll suss them out ~ thank you!!
