Pink Ruffles and Birthday Girls
{Pink Ruffled Birthday Girls : ink pen and watercolour illustration by © Shell-Sherree} |
When I was drawing this illustration, two kitties wanted in on the action, so I let my pencil do its thing. Mine is not to question why ~ I just follow the magic.
Belated as it may be {Sunday inexplicably drifted away on a melt of party ice}, please join us amongst the pale pink peonies and roses {thanks, dear sis!} for champagne, candles and fairy lights, dear friends and family {thank you all for being in my life, both near and far!} and the most amazing berry lemon cheesecake you could dream of {thanks, dear mum!} In all the fun and frivolity, I forgot to take photos, oops {thanks dear dad for bringing the gear!} Maybe it's a sign I should do an illustrated version. And on that note...
Happy Birthday to all of us, whenever yours happens to be!

Ah! I'm first! Is there a prize?
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Shell.
Thanks, Petrea! As for a prize ~ there could be, Petrea!! Do you have a wish list?
DeleteI do, Shell. I wish the party we imagine—the champagne, the pretty dresses, the gondola ride—was real.
DeleteSigh.
We'll put that out to the universe and see what it comes up with, dear Petrea. I'll second your sigh...
DeleteA very happy birthday, Shell, from Macie and me!! xxoo With all the fun and frivolity going on, it sounds like you needed two kitties to manage the celebrations!
ReplyDeleteAnd - wonderful illo!
Much appreciated, Ms M and Macie. :) That's a good point ~ eight paws make light work. x0
DeleteHappy birthday, Shell! I hope the year will bring you as much beauty as you create yourself.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous you are! Thank you, dear Mise.
DeleteHappy belated birthday dear Shell! November is also the birthday of another special girl in my life :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your special girl, too, dear Debs!! Thank you ~ I hope you're having a lovely week. :)
DeleteWell, I'm especially late to your birthday party (hope the card arrived on time at least). Let me add my birthday greetings to your bouquet of wishes—no less heartfelt for poor timing, I promise you! Sounds like you were properly fêted and I'm glad to see that another year in the hopper has diminished your wonderful sense of whimsy not one whit! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou're late? Only fashionably so, dear Alexa!! And yes, your beautiful card has arrived, dear Alexa !! {Only just ~ but my bad as I've changed postal addresses and I'm tardy in notifying everyone, so it came via redirection but is safely in my hands!} Merci, ma chere ~ for your lovely wishes both there and here. :) x0
DeleteIn my world the best people are born in either November or June (great ruffles on the dress - highly whimsical)
ReplyDeleteGood souls, PA! :) Glad you like the ruffles ~ one of my favourite things!
DeleteHappy-almost-a-month-late Birthday, Shell. The downside to following you on FB: forget to comment on the blog. I will do better, promise!
ReplyDeleteThe best peeps might be born in Nov or Jun BUT they aren't the best zodiac sign. :-)
Thanks, dear Cali !! No apologies necessary ~ it's a labrinth out there ~ too hard to keep up with it all !
DeleteSpeaking of zodiac signs, when I looked up my compatible signs recently then looked up the three listed, my sign wasn't on their compatibility list. ??! No wonder unrequited love is alive and well in the world. :D
