Furry Friends Friday: Whiskers + Kisses
Harry of Whiskers + Kisses {ink & watercolour illustration Shell-Sherree} |
Ah, sweet mystery of search engines at last have found me... and I have no idea how, but it turned out to be most serendipitous when Leanne of Brischetto Photography happened upon me while seeking a kindred spirit to illustrate her fur kids. When I saw Dax, Rusty and Harry on the Whiskers + Kisses website their smitten mum has dedicated to them ~ well, resistance was futile! It was a two-fold blessing, as I've been wanting to have Ella photographed by someone who can do her justice {who doesn't live on the other side of the world ~ you all know who you are!!} ~ and along she came. One logo, three illustrations, a photo shoot and countless hilarious emails later, I've found a beautiful new friend as well. Ella was reasonably gracious for her portrait session {I'll be posting links soon} and such a good time was had by all, we ran out of light before Leanne could photograph my studio. Not to worry, it gives us another excuse to catch up again soon. I did procure some macarons for styling purposes, and they might perhaps have happened to fall into our mouths when we declared, "It's a wrap!" for the day. A fitting end to proceedings.

When you drop over to visit Dax, Rusty and Harry, I'm thinking casual is the order of the day. Snacky-wackies are optional but likely to be welcome. And on that note...
Happy Furry Friends Friday to you!
What amazing synchronicity that drew the two of you together! Your illustrations are wonderful -- and I'm looking forward to seeing Leanne's photos of Ella and your studio.
ReplyDeleteThe photos and stories of her furry family on her website are heartwarming and fun.
What a charming "family" Leanne has—and your illos are wonderful! I'm also looking forward to Leanne's photos of your studio and your sweet Ella. How great that you two found each other (three cheers for the Internet and another for proximity!).
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful story! i love how the internet can bring people {and pets} together.
ReplyDeletelovely ...
Shell, I don't have a favorite post of yours, but if I had to choose one this would certainly be on my list. I love your furry friends illos! And Leanne's photos are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMs M ~ divine intervention of some kind, for sure! I can hardly wait to show you the pics ~ I’m being very patient which is not my strong suit. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlexa ~ I had some trepidation beforehand, fingers and toes crossed Ella wouldn’t choose that day to climb up inside the sofa for a snooze and refuse to come out. No such case, thank heavens ~ she loves Leanne!
Thanks, dk ~ for all the downsides to the internet, the wonderful parts of it more than make up.
Petrea ~ wow ~ that does my heart good! And Leanne has a great design eye, too ~ she’s a very talented cookie.
I agree with Petrea. This has to be considered one of your very best postings. I think maybe including dogs in this is what makes it so great!!
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't be biased, would you, Cafe! {Glad you like it, though. ;) }
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to meet Harry, Rusty and Dax -- I love your pet portraits! I bet you and Leanne had a really fun photo shoot (so glad to hear that Ella didn't pull a diva on you) and I can't wait to see the results. Great idea to get macarons for styling purposes. Definitely more fun to eat than candles or the like!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! I had great inspiration to work with ~ such sweethearts. And fortunately, Leanne and I didn't have to arm wrestle over which macaron flavour we wanted.
ReplyDeleteI think they are fabulous, and I am glad you two are so simpatico.
ReplyDeleteShell, this is a wonderful story. Love the illos and logo you did for Leanne. Love Leanne's work too - checked out her too great sites. Looking forward to seeing Leanne's photos of Ella and your studio. xo
ReplyDeleteMargaret ~ 'simpatico'. I like that!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Favourite Vintage Finds! I'm glad you love Leanne's work ~ if you hear of anyone looking for a beautiful photographer {and a photographer whose work is beautiful ;) }, they'll be in great hands with her. Hugs and Brrts to you and you-know-who from Ella and me. x0
I love the kitties but I favor Daxie girl. Might be that well composed interior Daxy has taken over. At the curtains with the faded tree seen through the glass is a nice detail.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to look up illio. I have three degrees in art, yet that term escapes me.
I've returned (not with Illio info) but with a visit to the web site. Good job Shell...I like it. What charmers that trio.
ReplyDeleteVery much looking forward to the portrait of Ella. I imagine her looking very grand indeed :)
ReplyDeletePA ~ thank you! Leanne has plenty of jacarandas around and loves them, so I wanted to include a nod to them in the illustrations. As for illio, I'll put my glasses back on ~ I can't spot it, but I have a feeling illo ~ short for illustration ~ was the intended word. ;)
ReplyDeleteDebs ~ I tend to think of her as squooshy and scrumptious, but I see her when she's just woken up and has bed fur. In some of the photos, she probably does look grand. :)
Paint me vert with envy. I'd love love love to photograph sweet Ella AND your studio!!!
ReplyDeleteI do however love these delightful illos Sweet Shell.
Hugs,
V
Thanks, dear V! You and Leanne would get along like a house on fire! I'm just imagining what a hoot it would be. Hugs to you and Meepsie. x0
ReplyDeleteI'm with Petrea: if I had to choose a favorite post, this would be on the list. These are wonderful, Shell. And I love your drawing of the trio on Leanne's site. What a great pack she has. I can see that you and Leanne really are kindred spirits. She's a gem just like you, but then I'm just a sucker for animal lovers.
ReplyDeleteA perfect mix for you, Susan! And you're not alone on the subject of animal lovers. Hugs to your beautiful fur kids.
ReplyDeleteForgot to comment! How honored these pets must feel. Immortalized by Shell Sherree! Such deserving subjects.
ReplyDelete(Photos of Ella? Where?)
Thanks, Cali! And as for Miss Ella's photos, we're just holding off for now until we've completed the other shots. I will be sure to let you know... ;)
