Francophile Friday: E-T for Two
pigment ink & watercolour illustration, 7" x 9.5" [18 x 24cm] |
As we peep over the shoulders of our Parisian kitties and share their romantic view of La Tour Eiffel, please help yourself to the boxes of Ladurée macarons they've brought along. And join us in celebrating my 301st blog post. {Source of inspiration for today's illustration is here.} Thank you for your friendship, laughter and waving of pom poms in support. I've lost count of the number of macarons and glasses of bubbly {and prosecco!} we've enjoyed virtually together. {Thank heavens the sugar is virtual as well...} I'm hoping I've found a dress to suit each of you as we party in a pastelicious fashion long into the weekend. And on that note...
Happy Francophile Friday to you!
Meeps took one look and purred, "MY Shell has painted me again and j'adore!" :) You know how I love a good Francophile Friday here with you.
ReplyDeleteBon weekend,
V
love your work! xx
ReplyDeleteYour endless well of eye candy continues to inspire me. Continue your wunderful work!
ReplyDeleteFélicitations.. mai votre crayon toujours être forte et colorée.. garder les blogs..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.. may your pencil always be sharp and colorful.. keep blogging.. .. ps.. I adore Fridays because of you Shell..
Oh, well yes, if a wardrobe is included...
ReplyDeleteI wrote to someone recently that an animal is so tender, dear, and vulnerable when seen from this angle. I have one picture of Phoebe this way, where she's facing away, thinking a deep thought, a thought about something in which I play no role at all.
What a wonderful illo! (My kitty is purring her approval loudly). And happy 301st; we'll all celebrate in style, as we always do on Shell Day.
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear V and Meeps! Anything to make you both purr. {She's probably well acquainted with Ladurée boxes...}
ReplyDeletethe GyPsY ~ always lovely to see you!
Cafe ~ your bark is my command. I'm glad to be of inspiration, puppy.
Thanks, The Cape Club ~ you're most welcome, and I'm happy to add some cheerful whimsy to your Fridays.
hiker ~ that's a beautiful way to put it. Thank you. And I'm grateful you have that photo of your sweet Phoebe.
Thanks, Ms M! There are contented rumblings in the kitty world tonight... how wonderful.
301 posts is definitely something to celebrate—especially when each one is a work of art. I'm all decked out in pastel (and merci for providing the wardrobe for this party too) and raising a glass of prosecco to you, ma chere!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Shell! Love your pretty illustrations of Paris and Venice and your dedication to our entertainment. Much love from les Benauts. xxx
ReplyDeleteFrancophile Friday... I love it!
ReplyDeleteThis latest picture of yours went PING in my head, Shell, as I suddenly realized that part of the great appeal of your work is the Winnie the Pooh style internal consistency of its charm. Happy 301st, and thank you for the many moments of utter otherness is a disorderly world.
ReplyDeleteI guess I got here on a Saturday, but congratulations. I'm headed to a party with some warm beer and a pot of pinto beans vegan style. Sure you want to lend me that dress? Pets for the kitties. Meow
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet illo, Shell. Congrats on 301 posts. It has been a pleasure being on this journey with you.
ReplyDeleteAlexa ~ and a prosecco {or two!} to you, ma chère, for your own recent milestone. Four years of daily blogging ~ that's inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Mme B, à toi et tous les Benauts, two-legged and four. ;) x0
Sandi ~ lovely to see you! And thank you...
Mise ~ fortunately, my drawings can convey my feelings at times such as these when words fail me. Thank you... I'm touched.
Saturday, Friday, Tuesday ~ it's all good, Pasadena Adjacent. And the dresses supplied here dry-clean themselves with organic ingredients, so bring on the beer and beans. Meow...
Ma chère Cali ~ {insert Twilight Zone music here...} we were leaving comments simultaneously. What fun! Thank you, petal, and likewise.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 301, Shell! All of them wonderful. Wow, I remember early ones, before illos. All of them fun.
ReplyDeleteI just read on Paris Daily Photo that the city of Paris is considering adding two new underground stories to the Eiffel Tower.

Petrea ~ I'd forgotten I did so many of those before I started putting up my illustrations. A nice walk down memory lane! And thank you for the link to Eric's post at Paris Daily Photo. It's an adventurous thing for the city to be considering!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on post 301, Shell! That is quite an accomplishment. I wasn't around the blog world in the early days. No illos then? How blessed we are to have them now. Thank you for sharing them! This duo of Parisian kitties could be my new favorite.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good Sunday, dear Shell. Or is it Monday?
It's Monday, Susan ~ but my Sunday was lovely, thanks! And I'm happy you love these kitties {though I was quietly confident you would...} Happy week to you and your fur-kids.
ReplyDeletePure Paris delight! I'm sure the macarons are all gone, but it took me a while to pick out my dress. Thank you for the wonderful confections to see, eat and wear. And congrats on post #301!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie ~ and there's an unopened box and we don't even have to ask the kitties to move their curvaceous behinds to retrieve it!
ReplyDeleteAwww such an adorable illo Shell! Reminds me of when Purrson sits atop my printer and looks out the window while I'm on my computer. Congrats on post #301! Sending hugs and brrrts to you and Ella from us!
ReplyDeleteFavourite Vintage Finds ~ how lovely! Hugs to both of you from both of us!
ReplyDeleteThis is precious Shell, and a sincere congratulations on 301! You just have such a special way of capturing Paris in your art... I look forward to the next 301 posts!
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Merci, dear Genie! And I have you to thank for so much inspiration. Bisous.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite illustration :)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I'm late to the party again - are there any dresses left on the rack? I'm sure I saw a half empty bottle of bubbly in the bathtub ice water..........
Carla, my Sophie used to brrrrrrt too. It's such a CAT noise isn't it?
J'adore ! The two kitties are so lovely with the Ladurée boxes to seat and the Eiffel Tower just in front of !
ReplyDeleteI want the same but with Venice ! Do you can for me with Micio and Dandie ?
Baci
Danielle
How lovely, Debs! Thank you. And we can do better than a week-old half-empty bottle of bubbly loitering in the bathtub. *pop*
ReplyDeleteVenetiaMicio ~ merci, ma chère! J'aimerais dessiner quelque chose comme cela pour Micio et Dandie. I'll email you.... x0
