Boulangeries and pâtisseries are regulars on the illustration playlist Chez Shell, offering up their wicked, sometimes-flaky, oft-pastel, always-sugary wiles within. And it occurred to me that I've been leaving their interiors to your {beautifully qualified} imaginations for far too long. Today, a lone plate of macarons is utterly insufficient. I present you with two tiers
{inspired by this}. Make a wish and they refill automatically. In light of that, we might need to
free ourselves from the puritanical sensibility of belts. {Make another wish and the hemline adjusts to your preferred length automatically.} And on that note...
Happy Francophile Friday to you!
Have you heard some studies of late say thinking you're eating a favorite dish is the same as eating it? Apparently this requires a certain amount of imagination, but that's where your lovely illo bridges the gap. I'm eating a macaron, and it's pistachio.
ReplyDeleteI have heard of that, hiker. And I'm happy to facilitate such endeavours.
DeleteAh, magic refilling plates of macarons! Perfect. And such a delightful ileo. I am tasting raspberry chocolate....
ReplyDeleteBetter than golden eggs, Ms M. Wait ~ let me think about that...
DeleteWith magical platters I would definitely have to liberate myself from belts, and zippers too. Cute dress.
ReplyDeleteZippers are overrated, Margaret.
DeleteDoes thinking I'm eating a macaron make me fat?
ReplyDeleteI think it's something like the tree falling in a forest deal, Petrea.
DeleteGorgeous illustration! I can almost taste them. This is definitely a stand worth taking! I'll have one please (that's one plateful of course), and that dress (in a version that's about 2 feet longer).
ReplyDeleteKatie, I feel we should only add one foot to the length for you. But your wish is our command, my sweet.
DeleteOh dear, I just tried to cram my entire iPad into my mouth because those look so delicious! I probably would've succeeded if I didn't electrocute myself with all the drool (the iPad was plugged in).
ReplyDeleteDelectable as always, Shell.
I'm glad you nearly enjoyed them, PCN! Do you have an iPhone?
Deleteall I know is ....I now very much want to eat cake!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you succumbed, Young at Heart.
DeleteI was about to say I love the dress but don't have the legs for it. Lovely to see you've granted a wish to solve that problem. I'm imagining eating a mocha macaron with my morning coffee. Yum. Thank you for breakfast, Shell.
ReplyDeleteMmm, mocha ~ sounds good, Susan. Very good.
DeleteI freed myself out of puritanical belts long ago. If you don't catch my comment - love your cat on the hikers desk page. Amber eyes, gorgeous!
ReplyDeletePasadena Adjacent, thanks so much for popping over from hiker's place! That's my Ella. She sends you a big purr of appreciation for your kind comment. {She melts me pretty much non-stop.}
DeleteThey refill magically? Exactly what this macaron maven would wish for! Merci mille fois, and also for the pretty little dress that will hide the results of too much munching on those macarons. :~}
ReplyDeleteBon weekend, ma chére Shell --
I knew you'd appreciate the notion, Alexa. And I very much want that dress! Bon weekend, my sweet.
DeleteJust sprayed my monitor with coffee when I read PCN's comment!
ReplyDeleteShell you are a wonder. Magical plates of refilling macaroons and self adjusting hemlines. You think of everything. :)
Nearly everything, Debs. I was unprepared for PCN's scenario. Clearly I needed to include an 'unplug your devices' caution plus some wipes...
DeleteHeres a big purr in your direction from my latest acquisition Twyla Bean It took me a long time to find her. Her style is now becoming out of due for a look where the ear carriage is now on the side of the head.
ReplyDeleteOh, be still my heart! Twyla Bean is exquisite, Pasadena Adjacent. I can't understand the notion of breeds being in and out of fashion {I guess I'm not technically qualified to be a fancier ;) }. Her ears are perfectly fetching, which is very appropriate, given one of her favourite pastimes. I'm very happy you found each other.

ReplyDeleteShell, beautiful illustration love the 2 tiers unfortunately had to ban myself from macaroons!!! The belt holes ran out :)
ReplyDeleteCarla x
Thanks, Carla! If I was living in Paris, I don't know that my willpower would be as strong as yours. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love the look of macarons. And the taste! All edibles should be pastel colored.
ReplyDeleteThe Pastel Food Movement ~ there's a thought, Cali!
DeleteI would feel honour bound to eat all those macarons so as to let everyone have a better look at the exquisite pattern on the stand. It's my humanitarian instinct.
ReplyDeleteMise, I'm sure we can nominate you for some kind of award. Your self-sacrifice is most noble.
DeleteGosh, Mise. That's so...well, I'm almost in tears.
DeleteSalted caramel macaron. Thanks, I needed that.
ReplyDeleteOh, nice choice, Jean!
