Uh-oh. Someone's wearing rose coloured glasses again, turning red to pink and risking the ire of a rouge-determinated anti-discrimination board somewhere on the planet. Or blogland, at the very least. The original is beautiful
{my abundant thanks to Genie of Paris and Beyond for her lovely inspiration} but when I started dabbling in my paintbox, this lolly colour brushed itself onto the paper and that was that. To tone it down, I feel it calls for the wearing of something modestly exquisite, along the lines of
this vintage grey Dior. What do you think? Let us discuss such matters over our café crèmes and macarons. And on that note...
Happy Francophile Friday to you!
"Let us discuss such matters over our café crèmes and macarons." -Shell Sheree
ReplyDeleteWonderfully profound quote!
Happy to join you over a café crème and macaron! I much prefer the pink version.
ReplyDeleteThat Dior was made for painting the town red, er, pink! I prefer la vie en rose versus rouge. Softer, more feminine. Like this illo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence, Shell; that is the very dress I wear habitually on a Friday as I sit down to have a look at your blog. If anything, however, I am even thinner than that model. Ahem.
ReplyDeleteThe pink is perfect. Down with rouge.
Isn't that what being an artist is all about??? poetic licence??? perfectly lovely!
ReplyDeleteThere you go again, taking something wonderful and making it uniquely your own. I remember my mother wearing such dresses, with yards and yards of fabric (boy, was that ever a different economy!). Hey, as long as we're dreaming, let's go for it, vintage Dior and all—which will still fit our tiny waists after we enjoy more than our share of macarons. Life is good, Shell!
ReplyDeleteIt's a treat to follow your creative eye, let it lead you to rosy rose. And your invitation of cafe cremes and macarons sounds heavenly.
ReplyDeleteOh Shell, when they see how perfectly lovely is the pâtisserie in rose and grey, surely they will be persuaded to change the decor! I think with these colors, you will certainly rival Ladurée!
ReplyDeleteOh, the vintage grey Dior is parfait!
Thank you for honoring me with your beautiful interpretation of my photo, ma chère!
Bises,
Genie
Mise, it pleases me no end to know that you and I are similarly attired today as we sip our café crèmes and munch our macarons. Shell and Genie, thank you so much for providing such a charming spot for our tête-à-tête.
ReplyDeleteCafe ~ I'm glad the puppy likes it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathryn!
Cali ~ imagine happening upon that Dior in a thrift shop. That would be some moment.
Mise, Petrea ~ the dress becomes you both. This is one occasion when it's not awkward at all to wear the same outfit...
dkshopgirl ~ true! Have a lovely weekend...
Alexa ~ I'll bet your mum is still glamorous!
Thank you for coming along, Ms M.
Genie ~ I'm so very chuffed you like it! Thank you for so kindly loaning me your gorgeous photographic inspiration. Bises...
Gorgeous shop! The colors are beautiful! Enjoy the lovely weekend, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear Kellie. I hope the girls enjoyed their spa.
ReplyDeleteI am a reader of Paris and Beyond and think you made a great interpretation, congratulations on your work
ReplyDeleteWill you invite Sam Stosur to come along? Yay Sam! What a wonderful player and a class act.
ReplyDeleteI think, as always, that what you chose as your special touch is parfait our sweet Shell!
ReplyDeleteV
It's positively perfect Shell! I'd like to match with the decor and wear my too small for me in real life vintage pink and grey pleated chiffon dress! Have a lovely week! xo
ReplyDeleteHello, this is Belgium ~ it's lovely to see you here. Thank you for your kind comment.
ReplyDeleteHiker ~ yay, Sam, and a woot!!! as well. Thank you ~ we're very proud of her!
Thanks, dear V! I know you're somewhat of a rouge girl, so I appreciate you going along with my pinkification processes. :)
Favourite Vintage Finds ~ I'll bet that dress is darling!
I think the Dior woman is consulting her map to find out how to get to your gorgeous pink Confiseur to join us all for some treats! So much fabulousness in one post -- wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love your pink spin on the already fabulous red. And the Dior dress is divine! It's a snug fit though; I'll admire it on Petrea and Genie and wear something loose so I have room for all those macarons.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking, Katie. A map and a pink time machine.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan! And great news ~ our dresses are tailored by pixies from magical fabric that expands as we do in all the right places.
Susan! You are about half my size. It's a good thing for me the fabric magically expands.
ReplyDeletePetrea, that is quite an exaggeration!
ReplyDeleteI made a mistake: it was you and mise (not Genie) in the Dior dress. But now that we know the Dior stretches, I think we all should wear it. Wouldn't that be a sight?!
Mmm, yeah, can-can line in a Dior dress.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan to me.
