Ladurée. Lauded by macaron lovers and lamented over by those out of crumbs's reach. And about to open in New York City at 1:00pm on 26th August {
according to Laduree's own website as I type} ~ within reach of
our chère amie Alexa. Hooray! Her visits might possibly require comfortable running shoes and a water bottle rather than a brief hip-sway in
Louboutins. But genuine Ladurée macarons will be on hand in her beloved city, nonetheless. As the NYC store is still having its wig powdered, corset laced and beauty spot positioned, I guess we'll need to rendezvous today at this one on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. It's a sacrifice, but someone has to do it. And on that note...
Happy Francophile Friday to you!
I wonder whether our chère amie Alexa would mind carrying along cardboard cutouts of all the Shell Sheree commentators to the grand opening? I don't see how they could possibly go ahead without us.
ReplyDeleteWould that we could...
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting the comparison between the American & Parisan Laduree's.
ReplyDeleteLove Ladurée and this illo! Will the NY shop have the same charm? One can only hope.
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! You really know how to make it go pitter-pat, ma chère. Unfortunately, I'll miss the NYC Ladurée opening (they keep moving it up and now I'll be out of town). But never fear, mise, I'll take you all with me in spirit when I get there. Unfortunately, those macarons don't travel well—as Shell knows—so you'll have to go to the source to get them.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Shell, looove that Louboutin website!
Ladurée à ls grosse pomme??? Oh well I"m having reservations. I don't know what to make of that. I'm a purist you know dear Shell.

A lovely illo for macaron lovers everywhere! It will help us endure the sacrifice.... :-)
ReplyDeleteMise ~ such a fine thought. As Alexa can't be there, it seems the show must go on without us.
ReplyDeleteHiker ~ indeed.
Cafe ~ Alexa will be able to make an expert comparison in due course...
Thanks, Cali ~ it has a heavy weight of expectation on its shoulders.
Alexa ~ hee, I do know {and thank you so much for trying!} I noticed the date bumps when I was researching the post. I'm so sorry you'll miss the unveiling ~ assuming they just want to be sure all their finishing touches are perfect, it should be worth the wait.
I understand, dear V! We'll see...
Thanks, Ms M. I do what I can. :)
What a sweet print! I bet there will be a crush of people for the NYC opening. Bummer Alexa that you'll miss the first day, but thanks for taking us along when you do go. In the meantime, I'm happy to meet up with you all at the Paris store. Not sure if I could walk in Louboutins, but it would be fun to try.
ReplyDeleteLove the transatlantic sharing of macarons from Laduree! I do imagine that they will taste the same as in Paris as they are mostly machine made and assembled these days. It is possible that the eggs have a different taste and influence the overall effect, but I would think that the recipe will be identical to what is made in Paris (and Italy and Japan and Luxembourg and Turkey and....)
ReplyDeleteHowever, I would prefer to consume my Laduree macarons in Paris!
Bises,
Genie
How exciting it would be to nibble on Ladurée macarons in Paris or NYC, but at least I can appreciate the vicarious thrill. To those of you lucky enough to be in one of my two favorite cities, enjoy! And thank you, Shell. It's always a delight to visit you.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm ever in New York I will pay homage.
ReplyDeleteKatie ~ we can practise swaying together.
ReplyDeleteGenie ~ oh, darn. Somehow I had visions of pastry chefs in all manner of pastel hats hand-making every macaron. A la Genie...
Thanks, Susan ~ it's fun to make believe in the meantime.
Margaret ~ tell them I sent you. :)
Gorgeous illo Shell (as usual) and a gorgeous place to meet up! xo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that place!!! But, I have to say that I have a preference for the Religieuse à la rose... to die for!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday and a good week!
Ah Shell! a rendezvous on the Champs Elysees at that delectable establishment Laduree's - must make haste!
ReplyDeleteMacarons are at their very best - when consumed on a sunny day in beautiful Paris !!
I hope they never build one on the west coast! The fact that it's hard to reach is part of what makes it so special. I'm in Virginia's camp, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Favourite Vintage Finds! I hope your week is off to a lovely start...
ReplyDeleteAnnaLivia ~ it looks exquisite! Have a sweet week.
Dianne ~ a sunny day ~ yes, that sounds like a perfect accompaniment.
Petrea ~ if they opened in Brisbane, I couldn't possibly resist going, though I'm sure it would just make me dream of Paris even more.
