Fanciful Friday: Lime & Firth, Please
ink & watercolour weensy meep miniature, 2.5 x 3.5" [6.5 x 9cm ] ACQUIRE A MEEP |
Vogue Living {Australia} featured this bucolic getaway {Sep-Oct 2010 edition} and described it thus and verily: "A restrained dose of whimsy and wildflower hues preserve the Regency aesthetic of an English country manor hotel without the formal stuffiness of its counterparts." Wherever Regency aesthetic resides, Colin Firth will be bathing in a lake nearby. Done. I've artfully contrived a gilt-framed Do Not Disturb sign on the doors leading to the drawing room. There will be no dart throwing, as the walls are lined with lavender raw silk. But until the company arrives, we can bide our time with a glass of sherry and look intelligent as we ponder what in the heck the {no-doubt-hellishly-expensive} abstract on the wall is all about. And on that note...
Happy Fanciful Friday to you!
Love the colors and the furniture, Shell. Now if we could just ship this room to CA I would be in heaven.
ReplyDeleteLavender raw silk - now you're talking!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as ever my dearest Shell, and a happy Friday to you too.
Effortless luxury with wild forest food and Colin Firth bathing in a lake near by ~ Oh dearie me!! that sounds like my sort of place. Now is that a snow globe I see on the table.
ReplyDeleteOn pondering the canvas with goodly dabs of quinacridone violet ~ I would say it represents the break of day before any form of orderliness sets in, lets just call it "Day Break in hues of wild violet" artist unknown.
J'adore l'ambiance, ces hamonies en rose et parme, bravo pour cette nouvelle aquarelle Shelley et bisous

I'm game for this excursion and soirée...Your illo is beautiful and the lavender is luscious! I'll take a petite glass of sherry but cannot promise to look intelligent... be there right away...
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
I can see your heroine from the buttoned sofa strolling into that room and preparing to receive Colin, or not, as milady's whim takes her. A lovely, lovely specimen of your meeps.
ReplyDeleteShSh! TGIF!!
ReplyDeleteCan you point me to the lake?
ReplyDeleteWell, sign me up for this lovely lavender dream! And after a glass of sherry, perhaps we should take a stroll down by the lake....
ReplyDeleteCali ~ would you like that par avion or seamail? ;)
ReplyDeleteMmeB ~ I wonder how many mulberry leaves went into those walls. Have a beautiful weekend!
Dianne ~ excellent philosophisation!
Merci, VenetiaMicio, et je te souhaite un bon weekend. Bises!
Genie ~ being a Meep, all glasses of sherry therein are petite, so no problem there.
Thanks, Mise ~ she suits that room well. And would be a bold heroine to decline such a suitor, indeed.
Cafe ~ I concur ~ thank God It's Furday!
Margaret ~ somehow, I think you'll find it all on your own...
Ms M ~ we'd better put some speed into the strolling, as Margaret has a head start. :)
Can you draw that in mural size so I can cover an entire wall in my bedroom and pretend I'm at Lime Wood? It's gorgeous! I love the colors and the tranquil mood they create; I already feel much calmer looking at this. Of course, once Colin shows up, I won't be calm at all!
ReplyDeleteAfter sighing my way through Lime Woods' inviting video, I say Hampshire it is! Especially if Colin is lurking nearby in the forest primeval. Besides, I could really use a glass of sherry and some effortless elegance after this past workweek. Amazing how a meeply mini and your wonderful imagination can revive a person!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shell! I think I will always love reliving those P&P moments with Colin and Jennifer. Argh! Wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeletePop Culture Nerd ~ I can at least send you some lavender tissue paper and craft glue, turning you into a damsel in distress ahead of Colin's arrival.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alexa ~ sorry to hear it's been "one of those weeks!" I'm happy to help the sherry in reviving you.
Petrea ~ very watchable, no matter how much time goes by.
I could have sworn I left a statement here. Or a sworn statement. Something to do with purple and silk and Colin, and, and ... I feel faint, again.
ReplyDeleteHiker ~ we'll gladly take your swoon statement now. Passing out over Colin is always forgiven.
ReplyDeleteGoodness where do you find these places! I'm a little full after last weeks picnic but will gladly make the effort to join you all. Am swapping the pedal pushers for a muslin gown and bonnet. Is a dip in the lake on the agenda?
ReplyDeleteLime Wood looks divine. I love the video and sultry song. And your illo with the lavender raw silk walls is luscious. But bloody hell, I'm late. Save a sip of sherry for me, will you, love? Cheers, Shell. I'm on my way (I hope Colin is still there).
ReplyDeleteHow delightful to return from far away lands only to get whisked away again to this lovely locale! And yes, of course Colin is just outside this pretty purple room taking a dip in the pond. It sure seems from the comments that all of us will be crowded around the window to catch a glimpse of him in that clingy white shirt. Here's to more of your fanciful Fridays!
ReplyDeleteIf Colin Firth is there, I'm there. If the walls are purple, even better. :)
ReplyDeleteDebs ~ there are corsets as well, lest the overabundance of picnics need a little physical restraint. Colin can undo each of us before our dip in the lake.
ReplyDeleteYou're not late at all, Susan ~ he was last seen chasing Margaret to retrieve his jodphurs.
Yay, Katie!! I hope the glass is fog-proof.
Anything for you, Amy. ;)
I'm loving the purple! And those chandeliers are pretty! Enjoy the day, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteForgot about those dang corsets. However I'm not one to complain if I have a handsome young man to help loosen them *sigh*
ReplyDeleteKellie ~ I'm rather fond of chandeliers myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteDebs ~ hahaha!
Lavender silk walls, well hush my mouth! I'm there, save me a seat on the settee! :)
ReplyDeleteV
The silk suits you, V!
