Francophile Friday: Scooter Tour d'Eiffel & Giveaway Winners
It's been a while since I took my imaginary pink vintage Scooter for a whirl around Paris. A lovely young lady with her very own pink scooter {and it's a real one!} happened to spy her recently, and I'm delighted that the original now resides in her home. She was looking for something to pair up with it, so I took myself on a scooter-flight of fancy and couldn't help pulling over at the sight of the Eiffel Tower. {And yes, prints are available. Thanks so much to dear Virginia, who may recognise the background scene from a photo she sent me! V, I have something else in mind for the actual subject of your photo...}
Now, enough of the suspense. I know you're speed reading, wondering if you've won my current giveaway. I'll get on with it, then. My usual barrel girl, Ella, was having a cat nap and I couldn't possibly wake her. She didn't need to hang a Do Not Disturb sign. I understand these things. So, I randomly pulled playing cards from my old Darling vintage pack, 55 beautiful {girlie!} paintings by Heinz Villiger, and put a sticky note with commenter's name on each card {a lot of fun in itself}, then shuffled well and drew three. In order of drawing {in both respects}, from left to right, here you are:
Congratulations to you all!!! Hiker, please email me your postal address and choice of print, and I'll contact Amy and 'C of Favourite Vintage Finds' {the lucky last commenter, which goes to show it's only over when the Lady with Largesse Sings} in order to figure out the rest.
And now ~ Happy Francophile Friday to you!
Please, join me if you can, no matter what the amount, by clicking on the ChipIn button over in the little widget on the top right to help raise $50,000 by mid January to help provide warm beds, love and care for the 16,000 abandoned or neglected animals expected at the RSPCA Victoria's animal shelters over the Christmas period. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who's already donated! Here's more info...
no. No. NOOOOO! Me! I won?!!! I'm chuffed, I tell you, I am so chuffed! I'm going to have a Shell on my wall sooner than I thought. Life is suuuweeeeet!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you. Will send my particulars after I take a run and calm down.
P.S. You know I'm a Vespa girl.
ReplyDeleteHee hee!!! Hiker, I'm thoroughly thrilled for you. And I didn't know you were a Vespa girl. I'll be...
ReplyDeleteBefore I get too excited - there might have been one Amy, is it me or another one? :)
ReplyDeleteAmy ~ get excited ~ yes, it's AmyR! Congratulations!! I'm so sorry, that was remiss of me.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations winners!
ReplyDeleteWill we be seeing more of Vespa girl and her adventures in Paris?
The card drawing was a humorous idea.
Remiss, hardly!! Yayyyy. I am so excited!! I just adore your art. Thank you, thank you... :D
ReplyDeleteAnd vespa girl? She and her wheels rock.
Well I'm smiling from ear to ear. Yes my dear Shell I do recognize this scene, and I love your take, almost as much as I do remembering my dear Eva pointing the way to la tour. Bless your heart. It's such a special thing for me to see my photographs as the inspiration for your beautiful artwork. What more could a photographer ask for??? I'll share this with Eva and her mom, who will be just as thrilled as I am.
ReplyDeleteI"m not a Vespa girl, but I sure love to see them and photograph them!!!
Hugs,
V
PS May I just take the time to add this footnote? When we visited Paris in March 2007, we spotted la tour Eiffel each and every day. Of course we saw only portions of it from afar. We didn't visit her till our very last day there. The night before I said to Eva, "Guess where we're going tomorrow Eva?" She said, "Where Mumsie?" I answered, "la tour Eiffel!!"
She said "Are we going to see ALL of it Mumsie?" "
I told her, 'We're going to see ALl of it from top to bottom. And we did. In the driving, freezing rain!"
OH congrats to the winners! WHOOO HOOO!
ReplyDeleteOooh, your Vespa drawing is super duper! I'm with Cali -- using the cards for choosing the winners was a very cute idea. Now I want to see the whole deck! And congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteVirginia I can't believe we wrote the same "congrats to the winners" at the same time. Wait, it's after midnight your time, what are you still doing up?
ReplyDeleteI haven't met Ms. @Vintage, but those cards look so much like Hiker and AmyR it's uncanny!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners.
Cali ~ we may see more of Vespa Girl's Parisian exploits ~ you never know! The cards are a hoot ~ I'm only guessing but they might be from the '50s, and chastely saucy {if there's such a thing}.
ReplyDeleteAmy ~ thank you and thank you! I'm glad to be gracing your wall. I promise I won't watch you. :)
Virginia ~ you'll like what I'm doing for you for Eva ~ though this bridge scene was a beauty, too! I love your ET story. I wish I was a Vespa girl. Too chicken!
Katie ~ it's a wonderful deck ~ I know you'd love it!! I'll keep that in mind for future reference...
Petrea ~ wow, how funny! I won't ask about the time you saw Hiker in her satin smalls ...
Contratulations to the 3 lucky ones !!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to tell you that you have to update your view from Paris, add 10 cm of snow, a thick coat and snow boots.
Even Eric is taking the metro instead of the scooter !!!
I'm thrilled! This has made my day! Thank you! Sending smiles!
ReplyDeleteMarylène ~ hee hee!!! Yes, you can tell I wasn't looking at Google street maps for this one. :)
ReplyDeleteC @Favourite Vintage Finds ~ congratulations, and you're most welcome!! I feel like Santa today. :)
Petrea's right. It was like looking in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteOh, that drawing's breathtaking, Shell! Wish I could dive into it and stay there for a while. I was a Vespa girl when I was wee!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the winners. What a great holiday gift you're getting!
"and chastely saucy {if there's such a thing}" Of course there is. I am living proof. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love an artistic giveaway even when I don't win. Roll on the pink scooter series.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this? Love the lovely ladies, but feel a bit as if I've been cheated as I somehow missed the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Hiker, Amy and C, and welcome to the "Yay! I Have an Original Shell!" club, of which I'm SO happy to be a member. Shell, have to say: When you have a flight of fancy, you don't hold back, do you? You've flown all the way to Paris (and on a pink Vespa, no less!)—I love it.
ReplyDeleteSorry to have missed commenting on your last post, btw. I'm a huge GWTW fan and your take was brilliant. Am now headed to ChipIn—such a good cause.
Hiker ~ somehow I just knew. Perhaps there's some latent feyness coming forth in me. Might come in handy for the "nut under the cup" tricks.
ReplyDeletePCN ~ I can still imagine you zipping around on one, though perhaps it would be red.
LOL, Cali! But of course!
Mise ~ you're such a good sport, given your giveaway obsession. We shall keep trying!
Margaret ~ perhaps that's just as well. I have a feeling your card would have been way too saucy to show here. {I don't know how you missed it, either, sorry!! Was Tykhe off duty?}
Thanks, Alexa! I like to make the most of my flights of fancy. :) {And thank you so much for donating!}
Katie,
ReplyDeleteSometimes I"m a night owl reading blogs!
Hiker,
Congrats girlfriend.
ShSh,
You're the best !!!
Hey, I just looked at those cards again. Hiker, you wear "hose"??? Well lord have mercy, you tart you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it. LOL
Lucky ladies! Love your work Shell, and the pink Vispa is great.
ReplyDeleteGypsy ~ thanks ~ always nice to see you!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to report that "Paris Pink Vespa Girl" and "Paris Pink Vespa Girl's Eiffel Tower Tour" are hanging beautifully in my daughters "Paris" themed room. And thanks to Shell's very lovely gift, they are hanging along side "Eiffel Tower Suzy's Scooter Escapade". My daughter was so thrilled to see the prints and hear the story, but even more thrilled to find out she will meet Shell near the Eiffel Tower in Brisbane. What a treat for the both of us! Thanks Shell, you are too wonderful for words!!! We are really looking forward to meeting you :-) btw...congrats to the winners! You have won a treasure for sure!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kelle!! What fun to have you here, both 'virtually' and soon, for real! I'm so happy your daughter loves your Vespa Girls and I'm looking forward to meeting you all under our little "Eiffel Tower". :) Who'd have imagined what a postage stamp would lead to! Safe travels and see you next week!
ReplyDeleteWait, ShSh. These winners are all female. In the interest of equality you should've given one to an animal. Say for example, a canine.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Cafe ~ if you play your cards right, you never know what might happen next time. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the Winners from my side !!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this great ET scene, Shell! I really needed it today.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Unseen Rajasthan ~ and congrats on your new website ~ all the best with your travel services!
ReplyDeleteYay, ET Suzy ~ I'm always happy to brighten your day!
Congratulatio0ns to all the winners.
ReplyDeleteHi, Rajesh ~ thanks for dropping in!
