Venerdi in Venice: Canal Living
I'm not sure what angle I was leaning on when taking the photo inspiration for this illustration, but it was an odd one. I wish I could attribute it to Hugh Jackman negotiating some turbulence in the canal while steering our gondola but in real life, I can't do that. What? This isn't real life? Then Hugh, could you please fluff my cushions when you've steadied us? {I didn't even have to ask. Such a gentleman, sigh...}
Per usual, I have no clue where in the heck this is, other than Venice. But somehow, I doubt that really matters.
And now, let's end the suspense and find out who had the strongest lucky vibes today for our blogoversary celebration giveaway. How better to announce it than with a drawing of the drawing of the winner of the draw. I attempted to have our kitty Ella choose by selecting one of the crumpled pieces of paper to play with but what can I say? She is a cat. If she doesn't feel like playing, that's the end of the discussion. I went to my reserve: hubby. Not as dextrous but it was fun to watch. Ella conceded to a quick pose after the hard work was done for her.
Ah Venice. You've really captured its elegance in such a delightful way. And yay to Petrea for winning the prize!
ReplyDeleteI will attempt to refrain from online SCREAMing. oops. But YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty excited over here in soCal. And now I've had my name done in a Shell Sherree, how cool is that? Ooh, thank you, I'm glad to have some luck today!!!!
ReplyDeleteHooray for Petrea, and hooray for me because I know Petrea and I know that she will show me her prize.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter where in Venice this is—it's gorgeous (though I'm gonna guess somewhere along the Grand Canal). Big congrats to Petrea, chosen fair and square by the ever so impartial Bruce. You go, Petrea!
ReplyDeleteThere must be some mistake!
ReplyDelete(But if I'm mistaken, then Petrea here in Pasadena is a good girl to get it!)
Yay! And l love your interpretation of Venice. I never tire of getting lost there.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Petrea. Your win is definitely worth screaming about.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting of Venice, Shell. Ella looks adorable in her beret.
Hiker, you've been to Venice? Ahhhhhh. I thought I was going to impress you by showing you my prize. I thought, "I'll get the Pasadanish together and show them my Shell Sherree. Won't they be impressed? Margaret will, and Cafe. Maybe Cali will drive up. Maybe we'll wait until Katie returns from her romantic vacation and she'll come down from the Bay. And the Hiker, will she...?" But no, she's not to be impressed. She's been lost in Venice. Trespassing at the Doge's Palace, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteI leave the room to bake a slice and have a cup of tea and look what I miss?! :)
ReplyDeleteKatie ~ and shortly you'll say, "Ah, Paris," before passing out with delirium under the Eiffel Tower! Have a gorgeous time and safe travels to you both!
Petrea ~ LOL! SoCal had the odds stacked in its favour ~ what a lovely gathering that would be. Congrats again, and enjoy her!
Margaret ~ you're right, of course!
Alexa ~ thank you ~ and if anyone could pick the location, it would be you!
Cafe ~ mistake? You aren't alluding to my attempt to have a c-a-t choose the winner, are you?
Hiker ~ I never tired of getting lost there either. Just as well, considering it was my permanent state of existence at the time...
Cali ~ thank you ~ and I suspect she's rather aware of how it becomes her. :)
See what happens when you bake?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beautiful picture Petrea. I'm sure you've got a spot picked out for it already.
Congrats, Petrea! Winning the prize is fantastic enough but having your name done in an original Shell Sherree, too? Sublime.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful Venice drawing, Shell. I can't get enough of that place, either.
Adventures ~ LOL, funny about that, isn't it. Baking and putting on the kettle ~ a dangerous combination. ;)
ReplyDeletePCN ~ you're most welcome! And wow, happy first blogoversary to you as well ~ what a coincidence. We're almost twins, heehee!
I'm very amused by the drawing of the drawing, a blog giveaway first. I guess as the cat didn't cooperate it took a while and was a drawing of a long drawn out drawing.
ReplyDeleteShell I'll do my best not to pass out with delirium upon my arrival in France tomorrow. I will say "Ah, Paris" a lot though! I just hope Dive can survive until the 13th when he finally gets to hop on the Eurostar over to Paris. He's actually never been to Paris, so I should bring smelling salts for him!
ReplyDeletePetrea I would absolutely love to visit Pasadena to partake in the "Petrea Prize Party"! But you're right, it will have to be after my Paris trip as I leave for the airport in a few hours.
Mise ~ ooh, good one!
ReplyDeleteKatie ~ smelling salts sound very prudent ~ poor Dive, what a wait. But what a gorgeous time lies just ahead of that!
Dive's never been to Paris? Ah, he will swoon, then, seeing Paris for the first time with his lady love. Doesn't it make your nose tingle to think of it? No? Maybe that's just me.
ReplyDeleteAdventures, I do have a spot for it. I'm hoping to cajole Shell into slipping into the envelope the drawing with my name on it, too. I mean, Shell, you don't have any use for that old thing, do you? Oh gawd, I'm shameless. And you've already given me two things: the Féerie illustration and a new spelling of féerie I hadn't known before and that I like a lot. The Hiker's gonna make fun of me when she gets back here.
Petrea: I like the idea of a meet up. I have a feeling the drawing with your name will end up in the envelope. :D
ReplyDeleteyour lips to shell's ear, cali...
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Cali knows me well...
ReplyDeletePetrea, but of course, it's yours! It has your name on it, after all. And your Féerie needs a companion to amuse her on the long flight over. I was going to slip it in as a surprise, so ~ act surprised when it arrives. :)
When what arrives?
ReplyDelete;)
ReplyDeleteYou are a generous soul giving away your wonderful illustrations. I do believe petrea deserves them. Happy blogaversary!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Neetzy ~ yes, she's a good sort, isn't she!!
ReplyDeleteI rather like Ella's beret; almost as much I enjoyed your daydream with HJ on a gondola.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Petrea - you're one lucky woman!
MmeB ~ I'm sure your little ones would look equally fetching in berets. :)
ReplyDeleteI just received an email from Shell Sherree to notify my that my prize possessions are on their merry way. It's a very nice way to start off the week. Thanks again, Shell.
ReplyDeleteMy WV is "snahot," which is a good way to be.
You're welcome, P! I wish them safe and speedy passage. :) And I'm feeling rather snahot myself...
